While strictly following a gout diet may leave little left to enjoy, it’s recommended that a healthy diet with everything in moderation be used. With more frequent and larger portions of the items in a gout diet, you’re likely to experience more severe gout attacks more often. You might be able to have what you enjoyed in moderation but it will depend on your body. You should track when you eat foods that can trigger gout attacks and note when you have an attack. You might find that you’re consuming too many foods that can make gout worse. If this is the case, you may want to have a schedule for meals for each day of the week. This way you can make sure that you’re eating food that will prevent a gout attack the majority of the time.
